Are People Born Bad?

I watched a movie called 'Orphan' which deals with an extremely violent 'child' who after being adopted destroys the family which adopted her. I say 'child' because she is apparently suffering from a sort of dwarfism which makes her look like a child but she is really a woman. But that is besides the points I want to raise...
1. Should such movies be made when people who are squeamish about adopting a child may just be put off the entire idea - Adopting is the need of the hour today, with the world being over populated we do not need to resort to expensive artificial means like IVF to beget a child, and instead try and give a home to a child (thanks to the natural calamities and acts of terrorism, the numbers of orphaned children is growing exponentially and of course add to this the many people who abandon children for several reasons - that's a whole different issue and lets not get into that) who is in need of a home and loving parents...a win win situation for both. Then comes along a silly movie where the parents adopt a child without properly verifying its antecedents and get decimated by this evil incarnate. Do we need such stupid movies? But this raised another question in my mind ...
2. Are people born bad? Is there something like a bad gene? No matter what the upbringing, will these children always be bad apples in the barrel so to speak??? I am asking this as a friend of mine, a Squadron Leader in the Indian Navy had a daughter who invariably was a terror not only to her own mother but to others as well from the age of 2, I am not talking of mischief or naughty but serious bad stuff...my friend was a basket case trying to understand the why and how....any ideas on this?
